Chapter 14: Union and Contracts - The What and Why of Organized Labor

Unions will be a major part of your career at the airlines. While this chapter does a great job of introducing unionism to a perspective pilot, there are a lot of additional resources listed here that will greatly expand your knowledge.

The NMB is charged with ensuring that commerce via air and rail is maintained via arbitration and mediation

The US DOL is the main agency that deals with the wellbeing of wage earners.

Department of Labor

The AFL-CIO is one of the largest collective body of unions in the country representing over 12 million people, and is the main support group of many aviation unions.
